Fish Bowl Living

This blog is about what it means to live in the information age, basically in the 21st century. What does it mean to be literally wired from way before sunrise to way after sunset, day after day, year after year; tethered to news, radio, TV, cd/dvd, the net, email, cell phones, consoles, IM, Bluetooth, virtual worlds, etc. How much of our lives is un-mediated? Simple walks in the woods, alone with just our selves? What does it mean to not have access information and media? What is and is not information? What does it mean to ‘know’ in the age of information?

Marshall McLuhan supposedly said: I don’t know who discovered water but it wasn’t fish. What McLuhan meant was that what surrounds us and defines us is often invisible, transparent but critical. This blog is about examining the bowl we all swim in and thinking about what it means.
